Tyson Foods helps feed the hungry, donates 40,000 lbs. of protein to 7Cares Idaho Shares

Tyson Foods shows its care for our professional CDL-A truck drivers every day as they deliver quality foods nationwide, but during the 2021 holiday season, one of our drivers helped the company give back as part of the 7Cares Idaho Shares food donation event.

For the 13th straight year, Tyson Foods participated in the event which is organized by the Idaho Food Bank and KTVB. Held on December 11, 2021, the food donation drive attracted generous holiday donors bringing everything from truckloads of food to pennies from piggybanks.

This year, Tyson driver Denny from Auburn, Ala., delivered 40,000 lbs. of protein for families in need. “I’m just proud to be a part of Tyson,” Denny said. “We’re building a culture where we give back to the community. Tyson has a passion for people and I’m happy to be a part of it.”

Tyson’s donation of protein was particularly well received by the Idaho Food Bank according to its president and CEO Karen Vauk. “We are so grateful every year for [Tyson’s] commitment to provide support for [the food drive] event and, more importantly, for Idahoans who are going to enjoy this incredible product, this protein that they’re bringing to us is so important for Idaho families.”

The 2021 7Cares Idaho Shares donation event received 93,297 pounds of food donations in the Treasure and Magic Valleys, equaling 77,748 meals. Charities who benefit from Tyson’s and other offerings include the Salvation Army, Idaho Food Bank, Valley Women & Children’s Shelter, Lighthouse Rescue Mission and Boise Rescue Mission, who distribute the donations to families who are food insecure.

“We are very proud of Denny and all of our drivers who are committed to our mission to support communities across the country,” said Phil Vanhook of Tyson. “Denny was a great representation of who we are and our passion for people.”
