This is a driver position responsible for the transport and delivery of freight on time in a professional manner by driving diesel-powered tractor trailer combinations short and long distances, while complying with Department of Transportation rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Tasks: Communicate clearly in person and in writing regarding work assignments. Read and understand company policies and DOT rules and regulations. Must have basic math skills to complete DOT and company required records necessary for this position. Properly maintain a driving log. Conduct a thorough pre-inspection of the equipment and submit a written report on the condition of the tractor/trailer at the end of each trip. Drop, hook, spot, switch and otherwise interchange equipment when necessary. Report all accidents or incidents involving driver of company equipment. Must be able to climb in out of truck using 3 points of contact (16-20) times a day and climb ladders and stairs. Must be able to drive, shift gears, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, lift 25 to 50 pounds, and repeat all essential functions throughout the shift. Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for the secure and safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle. Requirements: Schedule: Training Shift: Day Shift--Monday through Friday. After Qualifying as Driver, will move to Feed Mill Driver position on Night Shift-Sunday through Thursday.
Must be pass both urine and hair follicle drug tests. Must possess a valid Alabama Class A CDL. Must be at least 21 years of age to be considered for this position. Must have 9 out of the last 12 twelve months or 1 year of verifiable experience in type vehicle that will be operated. Must be able to obtain a medical card as required by DOT. No DUI/DWI conviction in the past 8 years in a personal vehicle and no DUI/DWI conviction ever in a CMV. No DOT Drug or Alcohol Violation within the past 3 years, including Roadside inspection violations as identified on locations PSP report. Must be able to work weekends, overtime, and holidays. Must be able to read and write in order to follow delivery schedule and follow simple maps and directions to farms. Must pass a driving test. Must pass a pre-employment DOT Drug Screen and DOT physical. Must meet the Tyson Driver Evaluations System requirements that involve but not limited to Points, DUI DWI Rules and Drug and Alcohol Testing. Feed Haul and/or top-heavy load and rural road driving experience preferred.
